ININ Games and STUDIOARTDINK have announced that Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World will launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on May 28. The game will also come to Steam a month later on June 29.

For those uninitiated, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is a remake of the 1994 action-platformer Monster World IV. It features significantly enhanced gameplay and cel-shaded 3D graphics to bring the experience up to modern standards that should appeal to both new players and returning veterans.

But for purists who really just want a nostalgic trip through a land they remember so fondly, the PS4 and Switch physical versions of this drastically overhauled new release will also feature the original game in its entirety. Sadly, digital copies and the upcoming Steam launch will be lacking this little extra, so plan accordingly.

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World will launch for $39.99, but if you’d like to get your hands on a very limited edition of the game, you have three options from Strictly Limited Games. These versions vary in price rather substantially, but some of the goodies may be up your alley.

  • The Limited Edition costs $48.99 and includes an exclusive color manual and reversible box art.
  • The Collector’s Edition costs $120.99 and includes an artbook, two soundtracks, a Monster World Map, a fridge magnet, and more.
  • The Mega Collector’s Edition cosys $216.99 includes everything from the Collector’s Edition alongside a Certificate of Authenticity, Asha and Pepelogoo figurines, and more.

Regardless of which version you decide to pick up, though, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World should be a nostalgic treat starting May 28.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
