Square Enix has brought one of its classic original PlayStation titles to modern consoles today, promising a heaping dose of nostalgia to role-playing fans. An HD remaster of Legend of Mana is now available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Legend of Mana is the fourth entry in the long-running Mana franchise, and it’s quite a unique entry that garnered plenty of critical praise for its clever design quirks. Unlike a typical RPG, this title asks players to discover special artifacts that can be used on the in-game map to spawn dungeons and towns, granting a sense of creative freedom in how and where you tackle various progression points.

Of course, one of the game’s standout features is its vibrant and artistic visual style that looks very much like a cartoon come to life. If you thought it was beautiful back in 2000, you’ll be delighted by the HD treatment that has brought things up to modern standards. It’s still very much an older game full of sprite-based characters, but the higher resolution, redrawn backgrounds, and UI overhaul have certainly cleaned things up a bit.

Additionally, the Legend of Mana remaster offers a rearranged soundtrack and the addition of the Ring Ring Land mini-game, which wasn’t previously included in the game’s initial Western release. This side-content was very popular among Japanese players back in the day, so fans should be excited to finally get their hands on it.

Legend of Mana is available right now for $29.99 on PS4, Switch, and Steam.
