Red Art Games’ pixel art action-adventure title Arietta of Spirits is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 20th.
This retro-inspired game places players in the shoes of Arietta on a trip to visit her deceased grandmother’s old cabin. During the trip, she meets a mysterious friend who grants her the ability to see ghosts across the island. In addition to an emotional narrative and interesting cast of characters, the game features fast-paced combat with a variety of enemies and encounters to deal with throughout your quest. Red Art Games promises that their new title will have “easy to approach game mechanics suitable for everyone”, so things shouldn’t be too overwhelming for new or veteran gamers.
Arietta of Spirits will also have a limited physical release of only 3,000 copies on PS4 and Switch exclusively via the Red Art Games store. If you’re a collector, you may be specifically interested in checking out the Switch’s collector’s edition, which promises the standard version of the game alongside a steelbook case. However, it also specifies that there are “more goodies to come”, so there’s likely to be some other cool stuff included, though it’s odd Red Art Games hasn’t shared more about this yet.
You can currently download a demo for Arietta of Spirits on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam. Additionally, Switch and Xbox One owners can pre-order the game on their respective storefronts right now to receive a 10% discount off the normal price.
