Studio Thunderhorse’s fast-paced 2D action-platformer Flynn: Son of Crimson is landing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 15.

Flynn: Son of Crimson didn’t hit every stretch goal during its Kickstarter campaign, but it did manage to raise $63,218, surpassing its initial goal of $40,000 and earning players PS4 and Xbox One ports and a challenge mode. Of course, all of this began way back in 2017, so Studio Thunderhorse has been working on the game for nearly half a decade now, missing a handful of expected release dates along the way to finally landing on the recently-announced launch day.

The good news is that it looks like this extended time for the team to work on the game has resulted in a game that may be a hell of a hit. Promising non-linear exploration, an affecting story, gorgeous pixel art, and dimension-shifting elements, you might think this one is already a winner. Thankfully, there’s also some extraordinarily flashy combat and a super cool companion to bring along (and even ride!) during your action-packed journey.

There was a demo for Flynn: Son of Crimson a while back, but since it was extremely outdated, Studio Thunderhorse removed it last month. On the plus side, there’s not much longer to wait for this equally charming and frenetic 2D adventure, so keep an eye out for it when it launches next month on all major platforms. And don’t forget that last-gen versions of the game will be playable on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S and X, too!

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
