The latest Dead Cells update is here, and it’s a big one! The 26th update brings bug fixes and the like — but that’s not all. The free update also includes six beloved indie characters, along with their outfits and weapons, which adds even more life to the already immortal Metroidvania.

Evil Empire and Motion Twin could not have picked a better name for the update because everyone really is here. Characters from Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Hyper Light Drifter, Guacamelee!, Skul: The Hero Slayer, and Curse of the Dead Gods are now all playable in the PC version of Dead Cells. According to a press release, the characters and content are coming to consoles later this year, so everyone else shouldn’t have to wait much longer.

I love how Motion Twin brought the indie-verse to Dead Cells as well; the update adds a book to the start of the game and within its pages are challenges. Complete a challenge and unlock one of the new characters, which are listed below, along with their weapons and skills:

Hollow Knight – Pure Nail (This attack can be used upward and downward. Attacking downward from above causes you to bounce on your enemies, which deals serious damage.)

Blasphemous – Face Flask (This attack deals low damage to yourself but also transforms 35 percent of the missing health into recovery.)

Hyper Light Drifter – Gun & Sword (The gun marks targets while also dishing out damage. The sword delivers damage to the marked targets, which is then added to the number of gun marks on the target. Sword hits also recharge the gun’s ammo, which does not recharge on its own.)

Guacamelee! – Pollo Power (What a great power! This ability allows you to turn into a chicken for a few seconds, firing several explosive eggs around you.)

Skul: The Hero Slayer – Bone (Smash enemies with a bone club. Hitting enemies a second time results in a rushing whirlwind attack that deals critical damage.)

Curse of the Dead Gods – Machete & Pistol (The first two slashes with the machete are just that, but the third attack comes from the pistol, dealing additional damage to nearby enemies. Players can also hold down the attack button for a slow but powerful ranged attack.)

‘Everyone is Here’ also includes Lore Rooms, which are designed in a way to honor the different games featured in the new update. The press release promises the content won’t feel out of touch in the Dead Cells world either though. Everything has been designed to fit the Dead Cells aesthetic while still pulling enough inspiration from the source.

Dead Cells is available on nearly every platform, including Linux, macOS, Windows (GOG, Steam, Epic Games, and Humble Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. As a reminder, the latest update is currently only available for PC platforms but it is coming later to consoles and macOS.
