Sinistrum Games have announced that they plan to begin a Kickstarter for their project Broken Veil, a puzzle-horror title set in a post-Soviet Russia. The campaign is expected to launch at some point in Q2 of this year, though an exact date has not been confirmed by the studio yet.

Broken Veil will tell its eerie story through the eyes a scared young boy who is searching helplessly for his mother following the collapse of the Soviet Union. However, in a unique twist, the little protagonist suffers from Prosopagnosia – also known as “face blindness” – which keeps him from distinguishing the faces of those he comes across on his journey. Throughout his journey, he’ll be faced with the unsettling realization that his condition may place him at a disadvantage in a horrifying and ever-threatening world.

Thanks to its art style and general gameplay design, you wouldn’t be unreasonable for comparing Broken Veil to another popular 3D puzzle-horror franchise, Little Nightmares. It appears Sinistrum Games are designing their chilling levels in a similar fashion with heart-pounding survival and platforming elements and plenty of horrifying monstrosities. The decision to add a laser pointer that allows the main character to interact with various cats to solve puzzles, however, should present some pretty interesting situations that help set Broken Veil on a path of its own.

Keep an eye out for Broken Veil‘s kickstarter sometime in the middle of this year. In the meantime, you can already go ahead and wishlist it on Steam.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
