While the past year or so hasn’t been the best, we can all look forward to a wonderful week of games and industry news on the horizon. E3 2021 will be an all-digital collection of shows from some of gaming’s most prolific publishers and development teams, so there’s no doubt at all that we’ll be getting some incredible new information about some of the most highly-anticipated games of this year and beyond.
E3 2021 runs from June 12 -15, but you can expect a lot of other shows both before and after E3 proper, such as Summer Game Fest on June 10 and EA Play Live way later on June 22. Additionally, organizers have confirmed a pre-show will get things started each day during the convention, but exactly what will be featured during those is unknown.
Take a look below for the biggest shows on the E3 schedule and an idea of what to expect from each of them.
Saturday, June 12
Ubisoft Forward – 3pm EDT, 12pm PDT
Ubisoft’s big showing this year will undoubtedly show us more about Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead, and we may even see some new Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla content announced. We should also be expecting some updates on Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartlands and Rainbow Six Quarantine. Ubisoft is almost certain to have a few surprises in their pocket, too. Will we finally see the return of Splinter Cell? Yeah, probably not. But we’re almost guaranteed to have to suffer through another uncomfortable dance routine to show off Just Dance 2021.
Gearbox Entertainment Showcase – unknown time
Gearbox is set to share some info with the world during E3, but what they have planned is pretty under wraps for now. Maybe we’ll see Borderlands 3 ported to Nintendo Switch?
Devolver Digital Showcase – unknown time
Devolver Digital always puts on a hell of a showing, and that’s not likely to change in 2021. While we’re sure to see some updates on Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and Shadow Warrior 3, there’s no telling what else we might see from these guys.
Sunday, June 13
Xbox + Bethesda Showcase – 1pm EDT, 10am PDT
Xbox and Bethesda’s show is guaranteed to be one of the biggest of E3 2021. We’ll almost certainly see Microsoft showing off new Halo: Infinite footage and possibly a release date, and we may see some updates on stuff like the Fable and Perfect Dark reboots announced last year. And following the company’s acquisition of Bethesda a few months back, it’s best you strap in for some big news about upcoming games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls IV. We may even get a tease of a future Fallout title.
Square Enix Conference – 3:15 EDT, 12:15 PDT
Square Enix is planning a relatively short show of only 40 minutes, but the company plans to cover upcoming game like Life is Strange: True Colors and Babylon’s Fall alongside a brand new title from Eidos Montréal. We’re also supposed to see some new Marvel’s Avengers DLC based around Black Panther, so keep an eye out for that.
Tuesday, June 15
Nintendo Direct – 12pm EDT, 9am PDT
Nintendo has a quick presentation planned for E3 this year and promises that the full focus will be on software, effectively shutting down rumors of a Switch Pro being revealed during E3 proper. That being said, rumors indicate we may see their new updated console announced well before E3 gets underway, so be on the lookout. What you can expect from the Nintendo Direct, however, is likely a healthy dose of information on the Breath of the Wild sequel and maybe some check-ins on upcoming titles like Splatoon 3, Metroid Prime 4, and Bayonetta 3. Then again, Nintendo is known for diverting expectations in both good and bad ways, so there’s really no telling what they’re cooking up.
But Wait, There’s More!
Keep in mind plenty of smaller conferences and showcases will take place between these larger showings, including appearances by Capcom, Take-Two Interactive, and Bandai Namco, so be sure not to take your eyes off the E3 streams – it’s gonna be a big year for games!
