river city girls is coming to PS5, river city girls zero, and river city girls 2
Limited Run Games revealed a bunch of River City Girls related news during their presentation. WayForward’s fan favorite River City Girls will be heading to the PS5.. The old-school title that never released in the West River City Girls Zero will be punching and kicking its way to the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. Siliconera reports that it will be releasing in 2021 and will have a new intro sung by Megan McDuffee.
Lastly, River City Girls 2 was officially announced for the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch for a physical and digital release, while it will make its way to Xbox and PC systems as well via download. As the first game has been critically praised with much fan love to go alongside it, we can’t wait to see more from WayForward and Arc System Works. We also know that a new project based on the RWBY property is in the works between them and Rooster Teeth, as well.
Bloodrayne is coming back
Thanks to Ziggurat, Bloodrayne Retribution is getting remastered up to 4K resoution and it will feature new voice acting from Laura Bailey as Rayne and Troy Baker as Kagan. According to the press release, the developer has squashed bugs, added a new “rebalanced difficulty” mode to the original grueling option, and implemented sharpened visuals for the 2011 title. This calls back to the 2D hack-and-slash titles with elaborate bosses and special moves. It will get a physical release on PS4, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch. No specific date has been given for the game’s digital release either.
Skatebird
The upbeat and unique skateboarding game about a bird pulling off tricks will release on August 12, 2021 digitally. It’s been much anticipated from the indie community as the concept is fresh and will likely lighten spirits within a harsh world. A physical release will come later as it’s currently TBA right now from Limited Run Games.
Huntdown collector’s edition
Described as an old school arcade action comedy, this indie side scroller Huntdown has a neat collector’s edition from Limited Run Games. It includes an 18′ reversible poster, a John Sawyer action figure that looks ripped from the 1980s, a 56-page art book, a soundtrack on cassette, an instruction manual, four embroidered gang patches, and three button pins, along with the game and case. You can now order it at the Limited Run Games’ website.
Republique anniversary edition
Indie favorite Republique will be getting a PS4, PSVR, and Switch release for its fifth anniversary. This is the first time it will get VR support through the PlayStation 4. The studio has experience in the field with Marvel’s Iron Man VR. It will also include developer commentary, according to Push Square.
Some castlevania and contra love
The Castlevania Requiem collection of Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood will be getting a physical release, in addition to the Contra Anniversary Collection. Surprisingly, Limited Run Games will finally be releasing the original Rondo of Blood to Western territories with a localized TurboDuo boxed edition. That’s very cool as this is the first time the game’s had an official translation.
Plumbers don’t wear ties
Probably the worst game ever to be released in a store, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties will be getting a physical and digital re-release on PS4, PS5, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. It’s an infamous FMV (it’s actually a slideshow) game from the PC and Panasonic 3DO that was crudely developed and can be called The Room of video games. The Angry Video Game Nerd infamously reviewed this game and showcased the whacky experience to the entire public. It’s a game you have to see to believe. Keep in mind that it will be a censored edition that releases in 2021 as the 3DO and PC versions were pretty tasteless in 1993.
