Developer Fallen Flag Studios’ Eldest Souls has been making quite an impression since its reveal back in 2018, largely thanks to its Souls-like boss rush premise and intriguing pixel art visuals. But the long-awaited title finally earned itself a release date during the Future Games Show – and it’s sooner than you might think.

Eldest Souls will launch on July 29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch and PC. The news was shared alongside a compelling new animated story trailer that helps set the tone and introduce future players to the world they’ll be inhabiting when they dive in next month. It’s clear that the game is planning to offer a deep and enthralling narrative in between its intense battles.

But alas, those battles will remain Eldest Souls‘ core feature, pitting gamers against some truly terrifying and difficult bosses in their quest to overthrow the Old Gods. The game’s 16-bit graphics compliment its top-down action combat, and a bevy of customization options will help ensure that you can build your character in a way that fits your playstyle.

You can add Eldest Souls to your Steam wishlist right now, or you can learn more about this exciting upcoming release on the game’s official website. After all, with a little over a month remaining until release, it’s probably worth familiarizing yourself with this punishing action title to get a leg up on the challenge.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
