Pharaoh was originally published by Sierra Entertainment and released in 1999. The game puts players over the construction and management of cities and settlements in ancient Egypt. Managing resources and deploying them into the right areas is a big part of success and progression in the classic game.

Pharaoh: A New Era is being developed with new code and assets by Dotemu and Triskell Interactive. The new version of the game will feature brand-new 2D graphics with an entirely new UI.

Dotemu and Triskell Interactive will also be focusing on improving the game’s different mechanics with all the available technological innovations the industry has experienced in the last twenty-plus years.

Pharaoh: A New Era will also include an expansion called Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile. It was originally released in 2000, shortly after the release of the base game, and now it will be available for new and returning audiences. Pharaoh: A New Era will feature over a hundred hours of gameplay according to publisher Dotemu. Players will also have the access to a full map and mission editor, which is already in addition to the game’s 53 missions.

Pharaoh: A New Era was first announced in August 2020 and scheduled for a 2021 release. However, Dotemu announced a delay to 2022 would be necessary.

In a tweet thread, the company said, “It is not our internal policy to rush a game, to get it released as quickly as possible. We are a small team, and the quality of our game is as important as the health of our fellow developers. These two aspects should always go hand in hand and have always been our watchwords.”

It sounds like Dotemu and Triskell Interactive are doing everything to ensure Pharaoh: A New Era is a must-have for fans of simulation and city-building games. Dotemu shared details helpful links for fans. There is still some time before the game’s release, which will allow plenty of time for speculation and official reveals from Dotemu, including gameplay footage.

Dotemu also shared Triskell Interactive’s YouTube and Twitch channels so anyone interested can stay connected and updated on the game’s development. There is also an official Discord that fans can join to discuss the game. You can stay updated and show your support by wishlisting the game on Steam. It’s helpful for any game listed on Steam, but it especially helps smaller projects. You can also ‘like’ and share the reveal trailer so more people are aware of Pharaoh: A New Era before its release.
