Misty Mountain Studio’s puzzle-adventure title The Rewinder is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.

The Rewinder is a 2D point-and-click game that is heavily inspired by traditional Chinese folklore, having players take on the role of Qi Yun, the last remaining Rewinder. As a Rewinder, Qi Yun has the ability to travel through time to explore the memories of other people and make alterations to the entirety of history. In a period of death and despair, his journey requires him to seek out lost souls and use his powers to help them on their path to reincarnation.

The attractive pixel-art aesthetic of The Rewinder is designed to mimic ancient Chinese ink paintings, and its story features appearances from a large collection of well-known mythical figures, too. Gameplay also leans into Chinese history in many ways, asking players to use traditional tools from the time period to solve puzzles. But not every puzzle is the same, and some will require the use of a time-bending mechanic, which allows players to collect senses from a memory world and use them to change the intentions of various NPCs and ultimately alter history – and the present.

The Rewinder most definitely seems like a unique game with tons of creative ideas, so it should be right up the alley of genre fans looking for a new adventure to sink their time into. That being said, if you want to give the game a try before you dive in all the way, you can check out the demo for it on Steam.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
