Nintendo has revealed that they’ll launch their Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service starting October 25.

The standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription allows online play and access to a collection of Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo titles. The upgraded Expansion Pack subscription will be an optional add-on that includes the ability to play an assortment of Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games, and will also include the Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC known as Happy Home Paradise.

The Nintendo 64 collection include such hits as Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and StarFox 64 alongside a handful of other popular titles, while the SEGA Genesis collection will sport Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, and more. The Happy Home Paradise DLC, meanwhile, will offer Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans plenty of new content, though unlike the N64 and Genesis collections, it can be purchased as a standalone expansion for $24.99.

You can opt to keep your standard subscription to Nintendo Switch Online for $19.99 a year, but adding on the expansion pack will increase the total cost to $49.99 a year. It’s certainly a steep price hike for access to a limited collection of older games, but with most of the titles being beloved classics, it’s nevertheless a no-brainer for retro enthusiasts.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
