An all-new Mega Man tribute album has been released by nerdcore rappers Noveliss and Mega Ran. Titled MAVERICK HUNTERS, the album sees the two hip-hop artists come together and shower their lyrics atop a range of classic Mega Man beats that fans are certain to recognize.

MAVERICK HUNTERS is focused on mostly relatable and meaningful themes, as the duo has adopted the same goals as the titular group from the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero series who work tirelessly to keep the world a better and safer place. The songs on the album cover a variety of topics about the current state of the world and memories of times gone by.

Noveliss and Mega Ran have both had prolific careers, with the former making a name for himself in the Detroit hip-hop group Clear Soul Forces, while the latter has already created multiple Mega Man-based albums and has even been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. And in addition to having such great success in the rap world, their mutual love for Mega Man that clearly needed to be expressed even further. Mega Ran points out that the love Noveliss has for the Mega Man Zero series led him to revisit and appreciate the games even more than ever before, ultimately leading to the collaboration.

I’ve always been a Mega Man classic and X guy, but Noveliss has been a fan of Zero since the beginning. His enthusiasm for those games has made me revisit them and while challenging, they arguably have the most engaging story of the entire series… And not to mention the soundtrack. It’s so underrated.

Zero was always the coolest looking character in the universe. I played through every game in the series faithfully, enamored by his mysterious nature and strong will. I try to bring that to this album.

The two rappers have already worked together with director ShotByDub to produce a video for their single “Memory Card.” You can take look at it below:

You can find MAVERICK HUNTERS on nearly every major platform, so feel free to check it out wherever you get your music. It’s worth noting, however, that the Bandcamp release includes an extra track called “Grove of Titans” featuring RoQy TyRaiD, so if you want to hear every bit of what Noveliss and Mega Ran have put together, that might be your best option.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
