Do you like Metroidvania games? If so, you’ll want to keep an eye on developer Bilibili’s 2D action-platformer F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch, as it’s launching on September 7 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Games with anthropomorphic animals aren’t anything new, but F.I.S.T. is taking the theme in a new dark fantasy direction. This story of resisting oppression features a much more somber tone than you might expect, replacing the cutesy appearances we’ve come to expect from animals like rabbits and cats with grizzled dieselpunk characters. Main character Rayton sets out to rescue a friend and fight back against machines that have invaded his once peaceful planet.

As the name so eloquently implies, Rayton attacks by using a giant metal fist connected to his back, and it’s pretty much just as cool as it sounds. Using a variety of combos, you can pummel enemies in glorious and flashy combat using both the fist and multiple other weapon found or unlocked throughout the game. In other words, there should be plenty of asses to kick and ways to kick them as you make your way through the many areas, which are also filled with clever puzzles to solve, hidden secrets to uncover, and shortcuts to discover in typical Metroidvania fashion.

With its intricate and interconnected world, fast loading, arcade-style combat, and compelling story, F.I.S.T. should provide an unparalleled sense of immersion when it hits PlayStation consoles and Steam next month. But if you’re already sold on the game and don’t feel a need to wait on reviews, you can actually pre-order it on PSN for a discount up until the release date. The normal price is $29.99, but PS Plus members can get 10% off, bringing the game to an even more reasonable $26.99. Right on.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
