Team17 and Sengi Games are planning to release their potion experimentation roguelike The Serpent Rogue next year for new-gen consoles and PC.
The Serpent Rogue will put players in the shoes of The Warden, a mysterious character that is tasked with seeking out and destroying an evil, corrupting force known as Morbus. On this dangerous quest to restore peace and balance to the world, The Warden will have to craft potions to help him tend to the ecosystem and battle against horrific monsters that stand in his way. This will undoubtedly require extensive experimentation on the part of the player as they attempt to uncover all of the permutations that can give them a leg up in combat and exploration โ some of which even include shapeshifting into a variety of creatures.
You’re certain to find that overcoming the treacherous journey won’t be easy or quick, though, as The Serpent Rogue is a roguelike after all โ meaning death is all part of the adventure. Whether it’s fighting off the aforementioned monsters or weathering natural disasters, it’s guaranteed to take a lot out of you along the way to its conclusion. Additionally, the choices you make throughout the game may substantially alter the outcome of the story and The Warden’s morality, leaving you as either the hero the world needed or a villain that only made things worse.
The Serpent Rogue is shaping up to be a unique entry in the ever-growing library of available roguelike games. If you’re feeling impatient and want to get your hands on it immediately, you can actually try out a demo for it on Steam right now. The game doesn’t have a specific launch date yet, but look out for it next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
