Anime fans and cosplayers who want to attend conventions in 2022 will be excited to learn that SacAnime Winter will return. This comes following the success of the Summer 2021 event during the Labor Day weekend.
SacAnime Winter 2022 will take place at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center from January 7th until January 9th. Registration has opened and VIP passes are now on sale. The hotel blocks have also opened, with the only options at the moment being the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Sacramento (more blocks could open in the coming months).
The first batch of guests have been announced and they are Johnny Yong Bosch, Cherami Leigh along with Zach Aguilar.
Johnny Yong Bosch is an actor who is well known for playing some of the most iconic video game and anime characters. His career started with the role of Adam Park in the Power Rangers franchise. This was followed by his performance as Shotaro Kaneda in the Pioneer dub version of Akira and Vash the Stampede in Trigun. Among his iconic roles also include Nero in the Devil May Cry series, Jonathan Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood, Yu Narukami in Persona 4 (video game and the anime adaptation), along with Lelouch vi Britannia in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.
Cherami Leigh is a voice actress who has had a rich career in the anime and video game industry. She is best known for her role as Asuna Yuuki in Sword Art Online, Mika Shimotsuki in Psycho-Pass, Sailor Venus in the Viz Media dub version of Sailor Moon along with Makoto Niijima in the Persona series. Her most recent roles were Valerie / V in Cyberpunk 2077 and Anaak Jahad in Tower of God.
Zach Aguilar is a voice actor who is best known for his role as Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. His other notable performances include the protagonist during the first half of NieR Replicant: ver.1.22474487139…, Arthur Pendragon in The Seven Deadly Sins, Keitaro Miura in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Genos in One Punch Man.
More guests will be announced in the coming months along with details about the many events organized during the convention. Submissions for fan panels, cosplay gatherings, the manga contest, and other events will also open in the coming months.
Regarding the COVID-19 safety guidelines, it will be based on recommendations from the Sacramento County Health Department at the time of the event along with the state of the pandemic. More details will be unveiled in the weeks leading up to the convention. Meanwhile, anyone who purchased a SacAnime Summer 2021 pass but didn’t feel comfortable attending may use it for the winter event.
SacAnime is one of the largest anime conventions in Central California that organizes a series of insightful panels along with cosplay gatherings, musical events, and more. Two conventions are organized each year, with the Winter event hosted in early January while the Summer event hosted during the Labor Day weekend.
