Sony Interactive Entertainment and Aeternum Game Studios have announced that their recently-released Metroidvania title Aeterna Noctis has received an easier game mode and a Collector’s Edition – at least in one region.

In a free update released Thursday, the development team has addressed some players’ concerns over the high difficulty level of Aeterna Noctis. Now those seeking a lighter experience can choose the new Aeterna Mode, while those seeking the original challenging experience can opt for the Noctis Mode. The team has redesigned some of the game’s levels, added new resting spots to the map, and lowered the HP of the final bosses to ensure the game is a bit more balanced.

A new Aeterna Noctis: Caos Collector’s Edition has also been announced, which will be distributed exclusively in Europe by Selecta Visión sometime this Spring.

The Caos Collector’s Edition will include the following items:

  • Premium collector’s box designed specifically for PS5
  • Steelbook PS5 version of the game
  • Premium collectors artbook with over 224 pages
  • Three-disc original soundtrack
  • Two postcards

Aeterna Noctis is available digitally on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $29.99. As with the Caos Collector’s Edition, you can grab normal physical copies in Europe, too.

Billy will always claim he didn't intentionally get the platinum trophy in Snoopy's Grand Adventure, but he's lying.
