Developer No Gravity Games has released a demo for their highly-anticipated retro platformer-fighting game Okinawa Rush. However, although the game is planned for release on all major consoles later this year, this demo is only available for PC players via Steam.
Following its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2017, Okinawa Rush has been on many retro fans’ radars thanks to its promise of bringing old-school butt-kicking gameplay alongside 2D platforming fun. The game features plenty of nostalgic qualities, including pixel-art style, Street Fighter-inspired combo-driven martial arts, and the classic drive to get high scores.
Okinawa Rush is being billed as easy to pick up but difficult to master due to its bevy of juggles, combos, and parries. In other words, if it’s anything like the games by which it’s inspired, it’s safe to expect a challenging romp through a fantasy reimagining of Okinawa. If you’re looking to tackle it with a friend, though, you’re in luck โ the game will feature a 2-player local co-op mode at launch.
No release date has been confirmed for Okinawa Rush as of yet, but No Gravity Games feel confident it will release at some point closer to the end of the year. Keep an eye out for it on PlayStation 4, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
