Popular Steam JRPG Edge of Eternity will finally be getting a physical release on PS4 and PS5 next month, and thankfully, it will include all current and future updates, the Japanese dubbing, and the fixes for the PC version on one disc.

The publishing deal between the developer Midgar Studio, the publisher Dear Villagers, and the physical manufacturer Just For Games made a deal to distribute Edge of Eternity throughout France and Europe on February 10, 2022. GS2 Games will be distributing the game’s physical release in North America. As it was created by a small team in the south of France, Midgar Studio must be happy to see it on their own physical game stores very shortly. The press release announcing this news also clarifies that anyone who buys the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 edition for free.

If you’d like to get the digital release instead, Edge of Eternity is launching on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PlayStation systems on February 10. Following that, a Switch version that is cloud streaming only will make its way to the eShop on February 23, a few weeks after the game’s initial jump to consoles. For those who already own the PC version, you’ll still be getting the Japanese voice update alongside your console brethren on February 10.

Edge of Eternity is a JRPG from Europeans, who are inspired by the medium from the Rising Sun, and it’s done quite well for itself after receiving funding from a successful KickStarter campaign. Edge of Eternity has received 2,543 reviews on Steam, at the time of writing, with a Mostly Positive score. It’s currently hanging at a 78% positive score on Valve’s platform, which makes it worthy of playing.

The music may be familiar for those who play Japanese RPGs often. Yasunori Masuda, the composer behind classics such as Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Shadow Hearts, has lent his work to the project, creating memorable themes for Midgar Studio’s characters and battles.

Back in December, Midgar Studio announced the Japanese cast for the game. It will star Jin Ogasawara (SSSS.Dynazenon and Wave!!: Surfing Yappe!!) as Daryon, Hisako Tojo (13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Selene, and Kohsuke Toriumi (Tales of Vesperia, Naruto Shippuden) as Ysoris, among other Japanese castings.

Those who love action RPGs may be disappointed by Edge of Eternity as the game offers classic turn-based combat, indicated by a grid-based system. But don’t underestimate the fact that’s an independent game and there’s no action element in the combat. The developer has said to its players to expect over 50 hours of content in this brimming JRPG.

You will be battling for the world of Heryon, which has been grappling with aliens relinquishing the Corrosion, a disease that turns living things into abominations. You as Daryon and Selene must find a way to defeat it and right the wrongs that the aliens have caused on your planet. Will you be able to save it with your strength and magical powers? You’ll soon find out when Edge of Eternity releases for North American and European physical shelves on February 10.
