NIS has announced that two of their earliest PlayStation 2 games will be receiving re-releases in an upcoming double pack for Nintendo Switch later this year. Fans of the deep and rewarding strategy titles Phantom Brave and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters are in luck, as both games will receive remasters to bring them into the modern age for this exciting new collection that NIS is calling Prinny Presents NIS Classic Volume 1.

While Soul Nomad & the World Eaters will certainly be getting that remaster treatment, Phantom Brave is getting even more attention. The version included in Prinny Presents NIS Classic Volume 1 will be based on the 2011 PSP re-release and carry the subtitle of The Hermuda Triangle. It features new story content, extra characters, a more user-friendly UI, and a variety of other upgrades over the original PS2 game, so this should act as the perfect entry point for new players.

Additionally, the physical deluxe edition of the collection will come with a CD soundtrack and art book to add even more nostalgia to the package. And if you act fast, you may even be able to grab a Limited Edition directly from the NIS Store, which includes the above extras on top of some acrylic stands and collector’s coins for $99.99.

Even more exciting news comes with the announcement of these two remasters, though. In case the name itself didn’t make it obvious enough, NIS has verified that Prinny Presents NIS Classic Volume 1 marks only the first installment in a planned collection of older titles the company wishes to bring to modern audiences. As of now, however, no news has been shared regarding the release date of any future volumes.

While we wait to hear more regarding future releases, Prinny Presents NIS Classic Volume 1 will undoubtedly be the best way to enjoy two beloved games from a developer who has perfected the strategy game formula. Look for it when it launches this summer exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
